Lantern Center Celebrates 15 years with Two Fundraisers

The Presentation Lantern Center is pleased to announce two new events to celebrate our 15 years of successfully serving adult immigrants in the tri-state area.

Sunday Sing-Along benefitting the Presentation Lantern Center
Sunday September 30, 2-6 pm – Jubeck New World Brewing 115 W 11th St. in Dubuque

The Jubeck Family Band will be playing folk songs from the Rise Up Singing songbook and YOU can provide your voices! The Presentation Lantern Center will receive $1 from every beer sold.  Jubeck’s also serves root beer, cream soda and kombucha.  The band will play from 3-5pm but come early and stay late.A great way to help us celebrate and sustain the operations at the Presentation Lantern Center (PLC) is to become a “matching donor”.  These PLC patrons match the Jubeck New World donation with their own $1 for every beer sold.  Typically Jubeck’s serves about 250 beverages during a Sunday Sing-Along.  So whether you are available that Sunday or not, you can support our adult immigrants with your donation.  Note:  50 cents per beverage is also appreciated.

Contact Tim Moothart, acting Exec. Director at the Lantern Center, to pledge or with questions.

Lighting the Lantern – Celebration/Fundraiser for groups of eight people

Sunday, Nov. 18, 4-6pm at Convivium Urban Farmstead, 2811 Jackson St. in Dubuque

Join with seven other friends or members of your organization at our first-ever signature event Lighting the Lantern.  We will feature food prepared in consultation with our immigrant students, bringing traditions from around the globe to the greater Dubuque area. Our program will include a speaker and a fun, theme based game.  (NO SILENT OR LIVE AUCTION)
You can reserve your table which seats eight people now by contacting:

Tim Moothart at   directorlantern@gmail.com or
Chuck Isenhart at  openureyes@aol.com

We’re asking that each table of eight people pay the same amount that an immigrant pays for applying to be a U.S. citizen, $725. For this fee, eight people can participate at this premiere event, complete with  unique ethnic dishes representing a wide range of American immigrant cuisine and an interesting, fun program.

Our door is open, as are our hearts. This opportunity, however, is limited: only 10 tables are being offered for our premiere event, Lighting the Lantern. Reserve your table today.
If you can’t go, can you sponsor a table for eight of our students to attend ?
